Don't worry, if you don't have Zoom, it will download automatically when you click the link below.

CALL TO WORSHIP  (Psalm 146)

Praise the Lord.

Praise the Lord, my soul.

I will praise the Lord all my life;
I will sing praise to my God as long as I live.
Do not put your trust in princes,
in human beings, who cannot save.
When their spirit departs, they return to the ground;
on that very day their plans come to nothing.
Blessed are those whose help is the God of Jacob,
whose hope is in the Lord their God.

He is the Maker of heaven and earth,
the sea, and everything in them—
    he remains faithful forever.

He upholds the cause of the oppressed
and gives food to the hungry.
The Lord sets prisoners free,
the Lord gives sight to the blind,
the Lord lifts up those who are bowed down,
    the Lord loves the righteous.
The Lord watches over the foreigner
and sustains the fatherless and the widow,
but he frustrates the ways of the wicked.

The Lord reigns forever,
your God, O Zion, for all generations.

Taste and See

O Taste and see the Lord is good

On him our souls depend

For He alone is daily food

Believe it now and live

The perfect one to satisfy

The craving of our souls

He showed us love and sacrifice

What good would he withhold?

O taste and see that the Lord is good

Taste and see his promises

Taste and see that his love is sure In Jesus Christ the Son

O Taste and see the Lord is here

A refuge for the weak

The blood of Christ has drawn us near

And speaks a word of peace

He gathers all his people in

To dwell with him as one

We see his pardon over us

Forgiveness in the Son

O taste and see that the Lord is good

Taste and see his promises

Taste and see that his love is sure In Jesus Christ the Son

Lift your eyes to Calvary

The saviour on the tree

He took our curse and gave us life Eternally

At the beginning of the year our denominational network—The Fellowship of Evangelical Churches of Australia (FECA)—encouraged member Churches to seek a new denominational home. This has sparked an important conversation around denominational affiliation. Sojourners Church, through the Church Council, tasked Andrew and Mark to search for a suitable denominational home. Over the next four weeks, we want to present our findings to the congregation.

The question that has primarily driven us is “What system best serves the long term goals and future sustainability of Sojourners Church?” After investigating and shortlisting some options, the Church Council has come to the conclusion that the Anglican Church best fits our criteria.

At Sojourners we want to filter everything we do through our values:

By God’s grace and dependent prayer, these are the things that are important to us:

  • Generous Hospitality

  • Building Up and Sending Out

  • A Heart for the City

Throughout this four week series we want to return to our vision and values and present why we believe the Anglican Church can best help us to live these out for years to come.

Gospel Spirituality: A view of renewal that promotes the slow and steady work of grace (Grace and Dependant Prayer)

Theological Vision: A generous attitude to open handed issues that creates unity in the gospel (Generous Hospitality)

Kingdom Ecclesiology: A view of Church outside of the local setting which promotes kingdom aims. (Building Up and Sending Out)

Mutual Submission: An accountability to broader structures which opens pathways for helpful assistance. (A Heart for the City)

Heavenly Father,

you have loved us with an everlasting love,

but we have gone our own way

and followed too much

the devices and desires of our own hearts.

We are sorry for our sins

and turn away from them.

For the sake of your Son who died for us,

forgive us, cleanse us and change us.

By your Holy Spirit, enable us to live for you,

and to please you more and more;

through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

God desires that none should perish,

but that all should turn to Christ, and live.

In response to his call we acknowledge our sin.

God pardons those who humbly repent, and truly believe the gospel.

Therefore we have peace with God through Jesus Christ. Amen.

At Sojourners Church we encourage our members and regular attenders to give generously, recognising that all we have has been graciously given to us by God. Our offerings express our joyful dependence upon God and our commitment to join God in his work of renewal.

Interview with Alex Richardson

Mark Davie will lead us in our kids song!

Grace will lead our time of Prayer with the Children.

How do we believe people are formed as Christians? Does it only occur through earth shattering revelations or can it occur through a million seemingly insignificant steps?

At Sojourners Church we believe that the Holy Spirit often shapes us slowly and steadily making us more like Christ every day. The Christian life—in Eugene Peterson’s words—is a long obedience in the same direction. This is why grace renewal and dependent prayer are at the core of our values.

Bible Reading: 1 Kings 19:1-9

BENEDICTION (Psalm 121.7-8)

The Lord will keep you from all harm -  he will watch over your life;  the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.

Go in peace to love and serve the Lord

In the name of Christ. Amen!

We will go into a time to chat in breakout rooms. If you are new or joining for the first time please stay in the main room we would love to get to know you.
